Speaker/Events

An Introduction

Joan Fernandez is a historical fiction author, speaker, and former senior marketing executive who writes compelling stories about real women who defied the odds—with grit, intuition, and heart. Her work resonates with readers who love women’s stories, art history, and discovering powerful lessons from the past.

Her debut novel, Saving Vincent: A Novel of Jo van Gogh, tells the remarkable true story of Jo van Gogh—the widow who preserved Vincent van Gogh’s artwork and transformed his legacy from obscurity to global fame. Published in April 2025, Saving Vincent won the 2025 Gold Medal from Readers Favorites (Historical Personage) and was awarded the 2024 Winner from American Writing Awards (Art).

Joan’s writing and speaking explore themes of women’s resilience, emotional well-being, and creative reinvention, making her a sought-after guest for libraries, book clubs, museums, and women’s leadership events.
