Daisy Jones and The Six

By Taylor Jenkins Reid

We are there. We are back in the ‘70’s through this cool oral history of a fictional band called Daisy Jones and the Six.

The structure of the novel as an oral record takes the reader down a fast-paced road of drugs, sex and rock ‘n roll while showing multiple sides of each character through their own voices.

By writing the book as an oral record, truth has lots of sides and memories play tricks since events are remembered the way each individual interprets it. By quoting characters, Reid’s prose feels raw and original.

By expertly giving us different angles on the same scene, the narrative drives forward with warnings and wishes and longings that keep you wanting to know who was right and who turned out to be wrong. This was a fun, unique way to tell a story and I loved it.
